I thin...@Kevin Q - I have played Tapestry once now. I think you're asking if the last player in turn order has an advantage since they know what score they need to beat? If that's your question, I wouldn't think that's necessarily a problem... if nothing else, the last player is already at something of a disadvantage in all of the races in the game (for landmarks, for achievements, and for the bonus resource for ending an era before your opponents). But also, it's not like the earlier turn players didn't try and maximize their scores already, so knowing your opponents' final score doesn't sound to me like an advantage.

Or maybe you're referring to some other turn order advantage? I guess I don't understand your question. Does it relate to how Tapestry has a different end game configuration than most games (unequal turns because they're player controlled, but certainty that you'll have another turn or not)?

Tapestry's end game is different, each player finishes when they finish, even if other players keep playing. Another civ game called The Golden Ages has a similar format, but after finishing your turns for an age, instead of moving on, you just collect points each time your turn rolls by until all players finish that age, and then you all move on together. Tapestry removes the points for finishing first (though it does reward you with an extra resource if you finish an age before your neighbors), but it doesn't make players wait for their opponents before moving on. I don't know that that's either good or bad, just different.

One potential down side to the Tapestry end game is that players have to sit and wait after they finish for their friends to work out their final turns, and depending on the group, maximizing those final turns can take a while. Some groups may not mind this, but others definitely will. For that reason (and maybe for other reasons) I think I personally prefer The Golden Ages -- sitting out feels less bad if you get rewarded for it with VP!Seth Jaffeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12449603052617321357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19884352.post-46445204851546684122019-08-30T20:51:46.079-07:002019-08-30T20:51:46.079-07:00Please update this once you've played Tapestry...Please update this once you've played Tapestry, I personally wonder if there won't be a certain winner every game. In play testing they discovered the last player had a better chance to be the winner. This game looks like it could retail for $100, thats a big leap to take with a game that has to defined of a winner. I'll wait, but definitely wanna see this updated once you've played it.Kevin Qhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03807109055011483187noreply@blogger.com
